Portunus – Client Portal Terms of Use

1. Who We Are

Portunus is a technology platform operated by Rowe & Wren LLC, doing business as Portunus ("Portunus", "we", "us").

Portunus provides secure software tools used by immigration attorneys to collect, organize, and manage client information.

You are accessing the Portunus platform at the invitation of your attorney, who is the provider of your legal services.


2. Acceptance of These Terms

By creating an account or accessing the Portunus client portal, you agree to these Client Portal Terms and our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree, you must not use the platform.


3. Role of Portunus (No Legal Advice)

Portunus is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.

The platform and all associated tools, questionnaires, dashboards, templates, documents, forecasts, or generated materials are provided:

  • for informational and organizational purposes only
  • not as a substitute for advice from a qualified immigration attorney

Use of the platform does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and Portunus.

All legal services are provided solely by your attorney.


4. Relationship With Your Attorney

Your legal relationship is exclusively with your attorney.

Nothing in these Terms:

  • alters your engagement agreement with your attorney
  • creates any legal duty or professional obligation by Portunus to you
  • makes Portunus responsible for legal advice, filings, or outcomes

Your attorney is solely responsible for:

  • reviewing information submitted through the platform
  • providing legal advice
  • preparing and submitting any legal filings
  • determining how platform materials are used

5. No Guarantees

Portunus does not guarantee:

  • visa approval or eligibility
  • accuracy of eligibility assessments
  • acceptance of any materials by U.S. embassies, consulates, or government agencies
  • any particular immigration or legal outcome

All immigration decisions are made solely by government authorities.


6. Use of the Platform

You may use the platform only to:

  • provide information requested by your attorney
  • review materials shared with you by your legal team
  • communicate securely with your attorney through the portal

You agree that all information you submit is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge.


7. Information & Data Processing

Portunus processes information you submit on behalf of your attorney.

Your attorney controls:

  • what information is collected
  • how it is used
  • how long it is retained

Portunus acts as a technology provider and data processor, and does not independently use your information except to operate and maintain the platform in accordance with our Privacy Policy.


8. Third-Party Legal Services

Any legal services accessed through the platform are provided solely by your attorney.

Where legal services are provided:

  • the attorney-client relationship is between you and the attorney only
  • Portunus is not responsible for legal representation, advice, or outcomes
  • separate agreements apply to attorney services

9. Intellectual Property

The platform, software, branding, and underlying technology are owned by Portunus.

You retain ownership of your personal information and content you submit.

You grant Portunus a limited license to process your information solely to operate and support the platform.


10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • Portunus is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages
  • Portunus's total liability arising from your use of the client portal shall not exceed $100 USD

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.


11. Account Suspension or Termination

Portunus may suspend or terminate access to the platform if you:

  • violate these Terms
  • misuse the platform
  • engage in unlawful or fraudulent conduct

You may stop using the platform at any time, subject to any agreements with your attorney.


12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time.

Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.


13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
